OUR PASTORS

Lee & Tonya Wilson

With over 35 years of multi-generational ministry experience, Lead Pastor Lee and his wife Tonya have dedicated their lives to equipping and discipling others through the local church.

Born and raised right here in Houston, Lee answered the call to ministry at just 16 years old, setting him on a lifelong journey of serving and leading in churches across the nation. Along the way, he and Tonya built both a life and a ministry deeply rooted in faith, family, and their love for the local church.

The Wilsons met, married, and began their ministry right here in Houston, and after 35 years of marriage, their passion for building the Church and empowering people to live on purpose is stronger than ever. Now, they're returning to their hometown with Purpose Church Houston - a church committed to helping every person discover that every story matters, and every story has a purpose.

WHO WE ARE


Everyone has a story, and every story has a Purpose.

Every story matters because every story has a purpose — including yours. At Purpose Church Houston, we believe God has uniquely created every person to make an impact, and no story is wasted in His hands.

We’re building a multi-generational community where faith, culture, and purpose come together. Rooted in God’s Word and led by the Holy Spirit, we’re creating a space where people can grow in faith, build real relationships, and step boldly into the purpose God has for them. 


OUR ESSENTIAL BELIEFS

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things and the source of everything that is good.
John 14:9–16; Matthew 28:19

We believe the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is our final authority for what we believe and how we live.
2 Timothy 3:16–17

We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. Born of a virgin, He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead on the third day, ascended into heaven, and will return again in power and glory. John 1:1,14; Philippians 2:5–6

We believe salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone. We are not saved by our own works, but by the finished work of Jesus on the cross. Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 10:9–10

We believe repentance means turning from sin and turning toward Christ. Through repentance and faith in Jesus, we receive forgiveness and experience new life in Him. Acts 3:19

We believe the Holy Spirit lives within every believer, giving us strength, assurance, wisdom, and power to live for Christ. We believe in the ongoing work and power of the Holy Spirit, including the Baptism with the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:4; 1 Corinthians 6:19–20

We believe the Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to believers for the building up of the Church, the work of ministry, and the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 12 

We believe God still heals today. Healing is part of Christ’s redemptive work, and we believe in praying with faith and trusting God to move according to His power and purpose. Psalm 103:3 

We believe sanctification is the ongoing process of becoming more like Jesus through the truth of God’s Word and the transforming work of the Holy Spirit. Romans 12:1–2

We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, and every believer is a vital part of that body. Together, we are called to spiritual unity, community, worship, discipleship, service, and mission. Ephesians 1:22–23

We believe water baptism is a public declaration of a believer’s faith in Jesus Christ and identification with His death, burial, and resurrection. Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:4

We believe Communion is a sacred remembrance of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross and a celebration of the new covenant we have through Him. Luke 22:19–20; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26

We believe Jesus Christ will physically and visibly return in power and glory. We live with the hope and expectation of His return and the fulfillment of His eternal Kingdom. 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17

We believe marriage is a sacred covenant established by God as the union of one man and one woman, as defined by Scripture. Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4–6
